With musicians aged from 16-20, Crying Uncle is widely recognised as one of the most exciting young bands in acoustic music in the USA, playing a unique mix of Bluegrass, Dawg, Jazz and original modern acoustic music.
With references from such legends as David Grisman and Marty Stuart, Crying Uncle has already performed at many of the most prestigious venues and festivals in the country including the Grand Ole Opry. We are delighted to introduce them to Europe at La Roche Bluegrass Festival.

Saelkie Folk, the “Seal people” in Scots, deliver mellow and heartfelt songs drawn from the seas of Ireland, Scotland and France, revisited with influences from Appalachian Old time and Bluegrass.
At times the clawhammer banjo sounds like waves crashing against the rocks as the singing and guitar flows over them; at other times the music is a cascade of notes as instruments swim together in the salty waters of the songs. Be ready for a captivating journey through languages, lands and waters.

Formed in 2017 in the Munich area of Bavaria around the two young Schuhbeck brothers, the band’s music is a mixture between indie folk, americana-pop and retro-bluegrass. Using only banjo, mandolin, guitar, bass and three part harmony vocals, with no drums or electronics, the good thing about this band is it works best live. So come and see for yourselves how these four passionate players are gonna make you want to stomp your feet!

Missy Raines is coming to La Roche as the current holder of the “Bass Player of the Year” award, voted for by the members of IBMA for the 10th time. As such she was a member of the Bluegrass Supergroup the First Ladies of Bluegrass alongside Molly Tuttle, Becky Buller, Alison Brown and Sierra Hull, all of whom were the first women to win the award for their respective instruments. These are a just a small sample of the great names with whom Missy has shared the stage or a recording studio during her career.
Her latest album (Royal Traveller), which was nominated for a Grammy award in 2020, contains many original songs that reflect on MIssy’s history in the music. Rooted in Bluegrass the album will appeal to the Americana audience who will appreciate her obvious enjoyment of folk, rock and jazz.
Missy performed at La Roche Bluegrass Festival in 2019 with Della Mae, and two more artists familiar to the La Roche audience will feature as she brings her own band Allegheny over in 2022.

Stacja Folk means “Station” folk because, although they all come from different cities in Poland, they all met at the same station – Folk!  Karolina, the young band creator and leader, was inspired by Americana, Bluegrass, Blues and Folk music from early childhood. Her clear and colourful voice gives the band its characteristic sound today, enhanced by the expressive fiddle, melodic guitar and driving bass. In 2020 the band released its first EP and won an award in the Open Mic contest at Mikołajki Folkowe, Poland’s biggest folk festival.
They also featured in episodes 2 and 8 of our pandemic video cast La Roche Bluegrass Show (see our YouTube Channel)

Karolina Jastrzębska – Vocal, Mandolin ;
Michalina Putek – Fiddle, Backing Vocals ;
Rafał Wiercioch – Guitar ;

Rookie Riot started as a project for young and new musicians interested in Bluegrass. In 2020, the 3rd generation of the project became a regular band. Although the band has some experienced bluegrass musicians, 4 members are new to their instruments and some never made music before! Now, our aim is to visit the USA in 2023 to get inspiration and to learn more about the music.
